BMC - SMC

Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics constitutes a very good alternative with respect to its equivalents like metal, plastic and wood by preserving many advantages and superior properties. The parts produced via compression moulding method find wide applications due to their compatibility to serial production, design flexibility, ease of production and high surface quality.

BMC (Bulk Moulding Compound) and SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) are the two main raw materials  to be used in compression moulding technique.

SMC

SMC reinforcing material is a pulp-shaped material formed by joining a resin containing glass fiber and filler material to the SMC machine. SMC which is produced by passing the sheet through the compacting rolls, can be thickened via storing the product under suitable conditions. It is possible to use carbon or boron fibers as reinforcing component and vinyl ester or epoxy as resin matrix in special applications.
